How to describe a tree job involving removal, branches and a stump

One property can involve several connected tasks: a whole tree, overhanging branches, an old stump and restricted access. Describe the complete result you need and let GDE identify the relevant services. You do not need to diagnose the tree or use technical service names before asking for a quote.

Start with the property and the outcome

Give the property suburb and explain what you want the site to look like when the work is finished. For example: “Remove the dead tree beside the garage, prune the two branches over the driveway and quote separately to grind the old stump near the gate.” This makes the relationship between each part of the job clear.

List every part of the job

Use a separate line for each tree, branch area or stump. Include what you can safely observe, such as approximate location, whether the item is standing or fallen, and what is nearby. Avoid climbing, touching damaged branches or entering an unsafe area to collect details.

Show how the work areas connect

Send useful photos without taking risks

If it is safe to do so, send a wide photo of the property, a clear photo of each tree or stump, and photos of the normal access route. Include nearby buildings, fences, driveways or overhead lines in the wider view. Photos support initial review but do not replace an on-site assessment where one is required.

Explain access and site constraints

Mention gates, shared driveways, limited parking, slopes, steps, pets, tenants and neighbouring access. Also identify anything that may affect timing, such as an arranged building project or a known council process. Do not assume an access issue makes the work impossible; it is information GDE needs to review.

State the finish you expect

Say what you expect to happen to branches, logs, mulch, grindings and the remaining site. If you are unsure, ask for the options to be shown separately in the written quote. Tree removal does not automatically mean stump work is included, so name the stump if you want it considered.
